Meet Alana

Alana has big plans for the future.

She wants to be a teacher, a lawyer, a ballerina, a scientist and a cheerleader. Now that she's finished treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma, those plans are closer than ever.

And she’s got the irrepressible energy and enthusiasm to match her lofty goals. “The bubbles and the laughter, the skipping and the dancing, it's been this way the entire journey,” said her mom. “Where I would get emotional about it often, she's been like, ‘Mommy, I'm okay. I'm doing good.’ It’s been a journey, but it's been a happy journey for her.”

Alana’s journey began in July 2018, when an MRI was ordered to find the cause of her persistent back pain.

When it became clear she had cancer, she was immediately referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for treatment that included chemotherapy.

Alana also took part in the new Transition Oncology Program (TOP), which is designed to help children like Alana re-acclimate to life after treatment.

And now, the sky’s the limit for Alana, because the treatment that she's received at St. Jude has set her up for success.

Today, she has more free time to spend outside, and is getting back to living out those big plans.
