The love of Christ is the ultimate weapon against fear. 1 John 4:18 says that perfect love, meaning God’s love, drives out fear. When fear tries to creep in and gain control, fight back by meditating of God’s Word.
Love, which God created and embodies, is the strongest force in the universe.
Fear is a powerful emotion which can grip our hearts and minds, making it difficult to function. Thankfully, God’s love is infinitely stronger than the fear that assails us, and by drawing on His love we can find peace to carry us through every challenge.
But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. -Psalm 33: 18-19
Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a night flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned.
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Roman 5:8
Because of His great love for you, He has promised to deliver you from fear.
No one can say that they know exactly what the future holds, but we do have the assurance that God’s plan is based on His love for us. God does not promise that our lives will be easy, but He does promise that He will rescue us from a life of fear. His ultimate desire is that we will learn to rely entirely on Him.
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands of people assail me on every side. -Psalm 3:5-6
He will cover you with his feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor thee arrow that flies by day; nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. -Psalm 91:4-6
